Amazing countryside views walks driving and sheep. Back of beyond and quiet at this time out of main holiday season. A real treat to visit and experience. Gods country.

Was disappointed we couldn't complete this pass due to the road being to snowing and slippery 😂 had to help another car out as they had hot stuck. But it's an excuse to regurn in better weather to try again Excellent views . You can see for miles

If you want to go from Ambleside to Wastwater this is the shortest route. Beware some of its is very steep especially the hairpins. Some stretches are quite thin too. It's doable on a bicycle if you're a good hill climber.

I came over the Hardknott Pass and the overwhelming relief when I got to the valley at the bottom was quickly snuffed out when I looked around me and saw mountains everywhere and realised with a sinking feeling that there was going to be another horrendous pass. I thought about turning round but couldn't face doing Hardknott again. It can't... More

Not quite as scary as Hardknott Pass but an interesting drive and also has lovely views. Definitely worth the drive - as long as you are a reasonably competent driver - not for the nervous beginner

I was so frightened on this route with my little car. It was hand brake, hazard warning lights and stopping when cars passed, all the way. I was grateful that my prayers were answered as only one small car passed me. I heard about a woman driver having a panic attack when she saw a large coach coming down, the... More

When my Mum said she dare not go up this pass I thought I would and send her the video! Exhilarating, steep in places- very steep, hairpin bends etc. A roller coaster! We went from Hardknott Pass the Wrynose. Hardknott was the steepest.

With 1 in 3 gradients and square bends on single track it's not for the novice driver. The challenge is well rewarded as there's hardly another road in the UK so breathtaking that I've driven on. Good to stop where safe as the air is so refreshing and an amble over the countryside reveals new views.

Amazing drive through, takes longer than you expect but the views are soo worth it. You do need good nerves as some of the passing places are rather tight.

A mountain enthusiast and drivers paradise. Exhilarating drive in a beautiful location. Drove over Wynrose Pass and then over Dardknott. No hedges so you can safely see what's coming most of the time.
