First time at the Castle. Steep climb to the castle entrance, but views on a sunny day were frankly stunning. Really good information plaques. Will be returning.

Be prepared for the uphill walk to the entrance and the castle but when you get there it's well worth the effort, the panoramic views are outstanding and when you're done there's loads to see in the town below, the pubs and pub grub again...More

This was a very steep climb to castle but worth it for views from top. As we are members of English Heritage we did not have to pay but I think I may have been disappointed with the castle if we had to. Although a...More

On a hot,dry day in June I climbed up to the castle and was rewarded with magnificent views all around. The keep is open to investigate, and offers some interesting details of life in 1300's castle. Really enjoyed it.

Exceptional views from the castle, once you had zig zaged up. Very informative boards dotted around explaining the history which was good as there are no audio guides here. A good English heritage shop on sitte. Castle was easy to explore Not suitable for wheelchairs....More

Steep climb but the view of the village and surrounds is well worth it. Superb village to explore but parking is an issue. You will find it though if you look around

If you aren't a member then it is not worth a visit! You climb to the top of the hill and get great views of the entire landscape (except the cavern) but that's it. All that is still standing of the castle is the tower...More

The entrance to the castle is in the village centre. Entry price is just over £6. In the entrance building there is a small shop, toilets and a display area. From here it's all uphill to the castle. The path winds its way up the...More

This ruin is well worth the steep climb up to it for the fantastic views alone , and the realisation that all the stones used to build it had to be transported up the hill some how in order for the castle to be built,...More

Having revisited here after many years, we were surprised by how much it cost to enter. The walk to the top hasn't changed, but the views are worth it.

Hi, I would say approximately 90 minutes will do. There's not much to see in the castle but the views are great. It's quite a steep walk up to the castle but you can take your time getting up there (there are some benches... More

£5.10 each without gift aid and £5.70 each with gift aid but English Heritage members are free and I believe there was a 2 for 1 offer in some magazines.
