As seen on BBC1 and BBC2 television and highly acclaimed in the Sunday Times on several occasions, the team of friendly expert caving instructors at Rock Lea have been taking people of all ages caving and potholing all year round since 1981. Come on one of events open to the public and explore the wonderful underworld that lies deep inside the limestone rocks below the Peak National Park. No special fitness and no prior experience is needed to enjoy caving with our patient, safe expert instructors...just a smile and some old clothes. We supply everything from hard hats & suits to wellies. The centre is fully licenced by the AALS - an arm of the Health & Safety Executive. ROCK LEA CAVING & POTHOLING CENTRE is located just off the main "Pay & Display" Car Park in the centre of the charming little village of Hathersage in the Hope Valley in the wonderful Peak District National Park in the county of Derbyshire in the United Kingdom. There are lots of clients kind comments and endorsements on our website. Please see our website for lots of pictures, press features and dates & prices of events open to the public. We also welcome private group bookings. Open every day except Christmas Day & Boxing Day. Thanks for looking. We hope to welcome you here soon. Complete beginners are welcome !Please call us to book.

It is clearly a popular area for walkers & climbers, but you can understand why. It is definitely worth a visit,... More

The hospitality at Rock Lea was fantastic and we started off with welcoming refreshments and then being kitted up with our caving gear. Iain gave us some interesting information about the geology and the... More

Brilliant! The team were very friendly and welcoming, they even had a lovely pot of tea for us when we arrived and when we got back. Ian and Jon are a wealth of knowledge on the area and in general. Jon took us on a beginners pot holing day trip, which we were all a bit skeptical of, due to... More

We spent the day caving, in an abandoned mine and then over to Giants Hole. Our guide; John, was excellent. Very knowledgeable and relaxed. Allowed us to really take our time and enjoy the whole experience. Ian & his wife run the center who welcomed us, provided us with refreshments and got us kitted up for the day. They run... More

Took a group of 20 for a stag party. They organised caving and orienteering for us and everything went off without a hitch. Couldn't recommend them highly enough!!
