Went with a family of adult children with an infant. It is a very small place, you can go around it in about 10 minutes. You do get to hold a couple of snakes during a guided tour... read more

Good place to visit to help overcome your fear of some of the more dangerous Aussie creatures... well maybe at least know a little bit more about them. But the highlight for me was spending considerable time with Horatio the black-headed python, he was so friendly I wanted to take him home but his delightful handler Naomi wouldn't let me!

Despite the few bad reviews on here. I thought it was well worth the money. The place is indeed small but has an impressive collection of venomous snakes and spiders. Tickets were cheap and I know this place doesn't get a lot of funding hence the cheap setup run by small group. Cages were of ample size of relative snakes.... More

Don't waste a cent on this dirty smelly delapidated relic. Nothing of interest, total rip off!😡 The uninterested guy on the counter charged me $50 for me the wife and two young kids, I don't think we were in there for five minutes.

Went with a family of adult children with an infant. It is a very small place, you can go around it in about 10 minutes. You do get to hold a couple of snakes during a guided tour at the end. The 2 guides seemed happy and friendly enough. Although I thought is was OK it looks a bit like... More

The dog poo on the ramp down to the display pretty much was the highlight.. We were in and out in less than 5 minutes. RSPCA need to shut down this place. Tanks dirty and small and about one third were empty...probably the reptiles died. Don't do it..go to the butterflies instead. $25 wasted plus 5 minutes of my life... More

This is a very small, well kept "zoo" with a selection of Australia's poisonous snakes all plump and happy in a darkened basement. Upstairs there are cages with scorpions and spiders. The guide gives an excellent tour talking about the research done with venoms to heal diseases including cancers. There is a lovely boa available for pictures with your own... More

Called in last week as I love snakes and was so disappointed. This place should be shut down. I dont know how the rspca lets the venom zoo stay open. The snakes are in a small dirty enclosure with no room to move at all. Looks like a dark dungeon as you walk down a smelly ramp. Newspaper clippings of... More

We checked out the Australian Venom Zoo a couple of weeks ago on our way to Cairns as part of our drive around Australia. Since we are heading to some remote places during our drive we figured it would be good to arm ourselves with as much knowledge about the things that will bite you and what to do if... More

Like most of the comments on Trip Advisor about this zoo, it really needs a clean up. Really felt sorry for the poor shingle back lizard just pecking at the glass to get out of its very small glass box, and the snakes do not have a lot of room to move. There is a lot of 'rubbish' like old... More

4 Adult and 6 Kids visited this appalling excuse for a Zoo. It is a dark dungeon, chaotically organised looking like its just been converted from some other failed venture. Its filthy inside. The owner had a go at one of his staff whilst he was showing us snakes and giving a talk. You cant see whats in the most... More
