Had never travelled this far north, but elected to do it for a change to see what they hype was about. And was greatly surprised. I don't have a 4wd, but the 2wd got me there fine, and allowed access to the majority of walking trails which was my intent. The hosts were very good at arranging shuttle buses to... More

I love South Australia and have been coming here 3/4 times a year for a number of years now. And this is the reason. What an absolutely beautiful part of the country. The scenery is magnificent, and it is so peaceful. We spent 2 days here, and just chilled and went out and did a couple of self drive 4WD... More

We spent three days at Arkaroola - but could have easily spent a week there. Thankfully, Reg Sprigg - one of Australia's foremost geologists and business leaders had the foresight and willingness to preserve and develop the Arkaroola Wildness Sanctuary. It is a place of great beauty and historical importance. The likes of Douglas Mawson and Mark Oliphant spent a... More

Soon beyond the entry that straddles the majestic Flinders, you realise you're passing through something really unique... The formations are more jagged and dramatic. I was constantly taken aback by the contrasting colours of various exposed layers that are enhanced by the afternoon (or morning) sunlight. The Wilderness park it's self is pretty much off the grid and was the... More

Spent a week here with good friends and had a fantastic time. The staff are so friendly and helpful and there is a lot to see. We stayed in the Wallaby cottage and found it comfortable and has everything thing you need as its a house so it has a kitchen, bathroom, 3 bedrooms and a shaded area out the... More

We took our 4WD along some steep red tracks to see the amazing scenes surrounding Arkaroola. An exceptional adventure.

We stayed for 3 nights and could have spent at least 2 more days to appreciate the uniqueness of the area. Took the Ridgetop tour with our driver Rick supplying us with a detailed history of the area- this is a must do. Viewed the moon and the stars with the observatory tour, also a must do We did the... We recently travelled into the Flinders Ranges then up to Arkaroola and I have to say Arkaroola was the highlight for us. It's a natural wonderland with so much to see and do....it almost feels like you are out on the frontier. The european history of the place is amazing with people like Sir Mark Oliphant, Sir Douglas Mawson spending... More

A truely amazing unique stay and place to explore. Wonderful location and staff, good food which was well needed after exploring the nearby gorges and river beds. Such a hard country so no doubt it is a hard place to maintain and staff but Arkaroola does this very well under these hard conditions.Loved the family feeling of staying there and... More
