I am not really into art but I found the tour very interesting. Was good to see his family try and keep the house as original as possible.... Its $10 for a full tour and i would recommend it

Sir Hans Heysen was a great SA artist and it is great that his legacy is kept alive by the Cedars, the place where he spent most of his life. A quick tour of some of the rooms of the main house (the rest is being lived in) was good, but a more extensive viewing of his Painting Room was... More

Very good guides to give an understanding of Hans Heysen's life. Staying at I Stay Precinct in Adelaide close to bus station and central markets is a good place to stay with swimming pool available. Friends collected us from here to drive to the Cedars.

Was fortunate to catch a guided tour of this beautiful home & countryside which used to belong to Australian great artist Hans Heysen and his family. 1 of Hans' daughter, Nora took after her dad's extraordinary artistic talent too. Our tour guide (it was a pity that I did not catch her name) provided us with some close & personal... More

The tour provides an opportunity to get some local history, meet some local people, and walk the countryside off-road. We enjoyed the half day we spent there, seeing the old house and walking the vast property.

We really enjoyed visiting The Cedars which was the home of the Australian artist Hans Heysen. As we arrived at 10am we were a bit too early for the guided tour of the house which began at 11am but we enjoyed visiting his studio which had wonderful views and obviously provided a great deal of inspiration for his art. We... More

An excellent experience to be had, also found out that the property is due for a much needed renovation, long overdue but still a great experience for any art buff.

Having been to the Cedars a number of times through my work, each time I go there I learn something new about the amazing artist Hans Heysen. The chance to walk through his house and especially his art studio is amazing. The local volunteers have a wealth of history, insights and stories to tell on the guided tours. You can... More

A little out of the German Town of Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, is the artist Hans Heysen's home and art studio. The historic house has been preserved with original rooms and his beautiful artwork. The stone studio is a little distance from his house and is very special with its high ceilings and large magnificent artworks and the cabinets... More
