We were surprised to find out this was attached to the Great Lakes Science Center. How could we pass up an opportunity to tour an actual freighter. An amazing, first hand look at life on the Great Lakes. Narrow staircases, tight spaces and totally worth...More

Great thing to interest kids for 90 or so minutes. Pretty thorough tour of a classic working ship, literally from stem to stern.

The price is $9. You self guide yourself through the ship but they have guides though out to answer your questions. You get to walk all up, down, and around the ship. The stairs are steep and easier to go down backwards. Very interesting adventure....More

I really enjoyed the Mather after my R&R Hall of Fame. Some of the staff were very knowledgeable about the ship and it's history.

I'm not one for history but this was amazing. The restoration of the ship is original and to visually see the size of the area they use to transport material was huge. The view of Cleveland and Lake Erie is beautiful.

I'd allow around 2 hours, but that's just me. It certainly can be done in less time.
