Concerts at the southern are special. They theater sports just as much of a historical feeling and plush architecture and ambience as the Ohio theater but in a smaller setting. It’s hard to call it intimate given its size. Plenty of parking in the garage...More

Back in the 1970s, the Southern Theater was an afterthought when it came to theaters in Columbus. Known mostly as a second-rate movie house, the theater was on its last legs. Then, restoration happened. The theater was acquired by the Columbus Association of Performing Arts...More

The Southern Theatre is by far my favorite venue in the Columbus Ohio area for live music. One often hears the phrase, "there is not a bad seat in the house." This is more true at the Southern than any other theater anywhere in the...More

The Southern is one of Columbus' Grand Dames. Stunning pretty and acoustically pure. The building itself has been restored to its glory -- with ample nearby parking. On event nights, Columbus Police help patrons across the street and there are plenty of nearby eateries and...More

There is a restaurant in the hotel which is the same building. Or, if you are adventurous, close by is a hotdog emporium that is the cat's meow, Dirty Frank's Hot Dog Palace at 248 S. 4th Street.
