Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery is an off the beaten path in part of the city where the homes were built in the 1920's and 1930's. The Cemetery was created during the Civil War and was part of a military prison camp. 2200 prisoners from the Confederacy are buried here. It is one of those small jewels that history minded people... More

While staying near Easton Center in Columbus I looked up things to do and this was one of them. We had no idea there would be a confederate cemetery in the area so we decided to check it out. The area of town is run down and a little shady and it's hard to figure out how to get in.... More

It's a bit out of the way and in a neighborhood that appears to be a little run down. Parking is a bit of a concern since there is no parking lot. However, it should only take 10-15 minutes to visit and take a few pictures. If you are truly a Civil War buff it is a site to visit.

My grandparents and dad grew up down the street from the cemetery, which is located in the middle of Columbus. I have many memories of walking to the cemetery when I was younger on Memorial Day. Its a fantastic piece of history and memorial for the Civil War. Area charities take great care of the cemetery, with flags, upkeep, and... More

Looking for a shady spot one hot summer day, I stumbled into Camp Chase during my son's baseball game. I'd never heard of it before, and initially thought it just an old grave yard. Once I began reading the headstones, I realized it was a Civil War burial spot for Confederate Prisoners. Being a Civil War buff, I was stunned.... More

It's a great place to learn about history. A great place to pay your respects for the men and women who die just so we have freedom.

After many years, I finally was able to visit this cemetery for the Confederates who died at Camp Chase, near Columbus, OH. All that is left are the graves in a section of western Columbus. So many men who died so far from home and so long ago.

This is a hidden gem in Columbus for any history buff. When you walk through the ate you can feel the history and to me it was almost like the soldiers buried there where trying to tell me their story. I wondered if any of their disant relatives had ever made the trek to pay them some respect. If you... More
