I visited the India Orchidarium Botanical Garden in Shillong near the Wards Lake in the first weekend of August 2016 with my Friends. We were a group of 8 friends. The Botanical garden is located just after the Wards Lake. The garden has very limited parking facility, which could hold only 5 to 7 vehicles at a time. The closet... More

Placed alongside the Ward Lake, amidst the virgin forest of Mawphlang, India Orchidarium and Botanical Garden is one of the most famous attractions in Shillong. This Botanical garden houses an amazing collection of rare orchids and plantations. A visit to view these native exotic plants would be a delight, if you are a nature enthusiast. A myth is also associated... More

The cover photo says it all. This picture is not of the botanical garden or for that matter of any place in Meghalaya. The botanical garden is situated adjacent to the wards Lake and is a simple enclosed forested area with varieties of floral specimens. However, the botanical park is not accessible since the last few years as it is... More

Tucked away in a corner near Ward's Lake, the Botanical Gardens and Orchidarium works at preserving ethnic varieties of Orchids typically found in Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and the other hill states. A visual feast when the orchids bloom (the place has blooms of different types all year round).
