Description:

Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits...

Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits one of the most modern breweries in the UK. Over the past few years the brewery has undergone a complete refurbishment with the replacement of the brewstream being the most recent update. This state-of-the-art installation recovers 100% of the heat and steam from each brew, 90% of which is used to reheat the next. This reduces the amount of gas needed during the brewing process by 30%.The new system can also brew larger batches in less time, making more efficient use of raw materials. It is also very efficient in water usage with a ratio of 3.2 pints of water to every pint of beer, compared to the industry average of 8. It even cleans itself and we're trying to programme it to make the tea too. But don't just take our word for it, book a tour, come and meet one of the brewery team and see it all for yourself. Please book ahead online for by calling our booking line to avoid disappointment.

Great couple of hours today being shown round the Adnams Brewery by the very knowledgable Zoe. Good balance of history, real examples of brewing and most importantly tasting of the Adnams varieties. Well done guys, keep up the good work and keep the Ghost Ship sailing :-)

At £15 a head we were expecting a fair tour of the brewery and distillery. The closest we got to the distillery was viewing it from an outdoor window. As for the brewery, it was a very brief journey, a shame because I do enjoy a pint of Southwold. The shop tastings were better organised with the staff showing a... More

Her Maj & I were given tickets as a Christmas present and presented ourselves at 11 o'clock ready to go. We've done several brewery tours so I wasn't expecting anything much new, which will teach me to pre-judge! Not a straight-forward this-is-how-beer-is-made tour, there was an extremely interesting history of the brewery since its inception in the 1500's to today,... More

Addams Brewery is an old brewery that has kept up with the times and is going from strength to strength. The tour was very interesting even for a non beer drinker.

Had a very interesting and entertaining tour , Ross was very knowledgeable and passionate about Beer and the process , He amused the Scottish cousins with his patter, Respect to Adnams for not spoiling Southwold with new buildings but integrating the Brewery into a lovely Suffolk village , well worth a visit , Note Have a designated driver !!!.

The Adnams brewery tour is an excellent example of how a traditional business has developed into a sustainable, modern business whilst maintaing its heritage. The guide was informative and the post tour tasting was easily the best I have experienced. The only negative, as mentioned by others, was the difficulty in hearing as we went round a busy brewery. This... More

Had a very interesting afternoon at Adnams in the heart of Southwold. The brewery dominates the town and it was great to see how the modern Brewery process can very successfully operate from old Victorian premises. The actual machinery is huge and automated and the size of the operation is pretty large, so you do pop from one building to... More

Alex was our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable. The only problem was sometimes I struggled to hear her - not her fault, just the surroundings etc. The tour was very good and the tasting at the end was great, very generous!! The Adnams shop is lovely too. I definitely recommend it.

We chose the brewery tour as our saturday morning trip. Paul was our tour guide and he was humourous and knowledgeable. The tour was informative and interesting. Of course the best bit was all the tasting at the bar at the end
