I have been going to this reserve for over 25 years and have seen it develop greatly over that time. There are always plenty of things to see whatever the season, migrating birds(a few rarities) wild flowers and if you are lucky even a polecat. There is a small cafe to relax in after a walk round the reserve. Electric wheel chairs... More

We visited on a cold and windy day but because there are so many hides we kept sheltering and seeing new birds. Lots of walking available and better paths than some reserves. Great visitor centre too with a decent cafe. Among the birds we saw were heron, pochard, lapwing, goldeneye, shoveler and garganey. Highly recommended.

College lake is a great place to visit. There is a lot to see for children in the various shacks. The diversity of birds is great lots to see. If you visit on a day when the rangers run activities these are inspiring for children. A low cost day out.

A place to take a gentle walk, although paths were wet today it was not really muddy. Great views of the birds, good hides, nice café and shop and toilets, good parking. Some nice quirky extras. The displays in the visitor centre are worth looking at, well explained.

My 9 year old daughter loves it here and will often visit it with her nan. They love to mooch about the woods and wander by the lake. There's a lovely wildlife garden and orchard maintained by fabulous volunteers. If you want a dose of British wildlife and nature come and spend a peaceful few hours here.

My wife and I visited on a wet day,and while we waited for the rain to ease we had a look around the small shop, and then had a very enjoyable light lunch of jacket potatoe with tuna followed by cream tea which we found delightful, with lovely views over the lake and watched birds feeding, when we had finished and the rain... A wonderful place for a Winter walk with lots of interesting birds to see from the hides. When you are thoroughly cold you can go inside and warm up with hot drinks, hot soup or toasted tea cakes, browse the secondhand books, treat yourself in the shop, and learn about the geology and history of this amazing place.

We are moving to Pitstonevery soon but prior to our move had a look around College Lake. It was stunning. Can't wait to take our grandson. There was so much to do and see and of course the stop at the coffee shop for refreshments. Will definitely be going back.

The walk around the lake is just right if you have small children and there are plenty of interesting things to look at and space to 'mess around' as children do like to raom free. It's a nice, easy, relaxing way to spend a quiet Sunday. It has facilities for a hot or cold drink at the visitors centre.
