I won't go into describing the unfinished house as this info is widely available in previous reviews. We've visited this site a few times, with a picnic and also without. There aren't any picnic benches but plenty of space to spread out using blankets. On a nice day families fly kites, play ball and run through the dry moats. The... More

Visited this week and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the country side. The grounds are lovely and the house is well worth a look round and finding out about the history. There is a very small cafe run by the National Trust the prices are not cheap and I had a tiny sausage roll which they charged me 3.75... More

We are NT members and were in the area so visited. I thought it was a pretty place for a spring walk. There is not much to do and the house is just a shell. It is very peaceful and there is a NT cafe on site where you can indulge in tea and cake. I wouldn't go out of... More

My friend and I had lovely homemade scones with fresh pot of tea. Service is a little slow at times, but always accommodating, friendly and helpful..therefore, well worth the wait. I have been to this venue many times before and have enjoyed the calm, clean and welcoming environment. The indoor environment is quite small. However, in the summertime there's plenty... More

We have been to Lyveden New Bield many times before on our own and with family members. The purpose of yesterday's visit was to enjoy a picnic in peaceful surroundings. We had a lovely time, enjoying reading our books, photography and a stroll through the grounds. For those wishing to explore, it is the remains of an unfinished Grand Country... More

Well worth a visit to see the partially completed Elizabethan house and to learn a little more about that period of history. The ruin is surrounded by beautiful walks, a labyrinth to explore and an apple orchard. When you need a rest and some refreshments there is a lovely cafe which sells homemade cakes and sandwiches. The cream tea with... More

The builder of this place was a Roman Catholic in England at a time when it was dangerous to be associated with this faith. The Triangular Lodge at Rushton was relatively small compared to Lyveden but the symbolism is clear. Associated with the Gunpowder Plot, the owner died before it could be completed having spent some years in prison because... More

We had a Monday off work and wanted something a bit left field. National Trust property that is an eternal new build project, unfinished because of a backstory more intriguing than you can imagine. It's in the middle of nowhere juxtaposed between Corby and the delights of Rural Northants. We had a surreal afternoon here. Open your mind, visit and... More

This ruin is of historical importance, for the Northamptonshire area, it's a good example of an unfinished project by the Tresham family. It's an unfinished summer house on a grand scale.
