It's so quiet here! it's interesting to look around the church BUT there is also a great footpath by the side of the church (which is in the photo) to a ruined castle and beyond. We didn't know this beforehand so hadn't got our walking...More

This site is free but is part of English heritage. You can spend about a hour here with church too and a picnic definitely worth a visit. You can pick up castle information in church about the castle for a 50p donation. The church door...More

Saw sign and followed, glad I did. A ruin but still worth a look. Visited the church next to it too, a beautiful stained glass window to be found. A good photographic place.

This village has gone through many changes. The castle is free to access, it's a ruin, parking hard by is limited but sufficient and there is also a disused railway viaduct to remind you that sic transit gloria mundae

You can make out clearly how this castle would have looked as there are a lot of ruins left. The tower looks like it could fall down at any minute, a great little castle to visit for an hour.

We literally stumbled on this place from the main road and its secluded position in the valley was well worth a visit. The church nearby is very old and merits a view in itself. It was fairly easy to park by the church and then...More

Well worth stopping off and taking a detour - the church is amazingly preserved and dates from the 900s, the castle from the 1100 - so quiet and tranquil, far from the madding crowd!
