Nice pub with a great variety of attributes having nothing to do with pubbing. That's why this is a good pub with so many kinds of drinks that it is impossible to leave feeling unsatisfied.

The Barrels was once my favorite pub in Berwick, it still is for quirky charm, however for drink it's dropped way down below the excellent Curfew and the vastly improved Brown Bear. So the thing that's given this place a bit of a bashing is the quality of the drink itself; I've no qualms with the ales on offer or... More

Been drinking in Barrels since I was 18 I'm 33 now and whenever I return to Berwick Barrels is always my first port of call. Great pub not as good as it was back in the early 2000's but still the best pub in Berwick by a country mile.

If you hanker for a decent pub with a decent choice of ales then look no further. The pub has character by the bucket load and a wonderful atmosphere. No 'Sky Sports Banner' outside and there was plenty to look at on the walls (and ceilings) rather than the giant TV screens that have invaded most other pubs these days.... More

Husband and I popped in most days during our recent stay. Authentic pub with fantastic memorabilia on the walls. Photos of Berwick through the ages, elvis, rugby stars. An eclectic mix which sums up the vibe here. Locals friendly and easy to chat. Popular in the evening as well. One of our favourite places

We came to the Barrels after dropping our stuff at the hotel we were staying at in Newcastle. It is a real ale pub and the gentleman that served us made us very welcome. There were at least half a dozen beers on tap which suited us down to the ground. Well worth a visit. We also chatted to one... More

We popped in for a quick drink after catching Rich Hall at The Maltings. Lively & busy atmosphere with quick service & several quality real ales on tap. Good, traditional boozer which we'll return to when next visiting Berwick.

Down a steep hill from the town, this lovely place is one of two great places in Berwick to sample proper Real Ale (the other is The Curfew around the corner). Nice ambience with a proper pub feel to it. Well stocked fridge of cans to take-away.

Barrels has built its reputation for locals and tourists for its cask beers from local and unusual breweries in the area. It is also a warm friendly pub for locals who prefer the bar as their local . It also awaits its musical connection being renewed by the council The town needs a music venue and Barrels has been successful... More
