Move along people, nothing to see here....Except plastic sheeting and scaffolding. The information on the National Trust website is very misleading especially if like us you are not familiar with the area. "While the castle is closed for conservation work you can still visit our...More

We so enjoyed our trip to the Holy Island and this was the highlight. We plan on sailing back here next year. It should be on everyone’s to see list!

Having walked the St Cuthberts Way and ended on Holy Island it was disappointing to find the castle shrouded in tarpaulin and scaffold so couldn’t even take a photo. Bought a postcard so knew what we had missed

We have been meaning to visit Holy Island for years, and this week have done so. Having checked in to the hotel, we gazed from our window that looked to the castle. And what did we see? - scaffolding. But it is worth walking to,...More

Unfortunately the castle was shrouded with scaffolding when we tried to visit so we're unable to see it properly, maybe next time.

Stunning scenery and walks around the island. Only disappointment was that the castle was shrouded in scaffolding at the moment. I will go back though when it's down

We were unable to even get near the place, as it is under active construction work to restore and strengthen the structure. Looking forward to visiting it the next few years.

I am unsure about the shuttle bus service as my husband and I travelled by car onto the Island. However, I seem to remember reading that there is a regular shuttle bus service and it runs throughout the week.
