National trust house & gardens. Only visited the gardens. We visited the wildlife hide & spotted a cheeky stoat eating from the bird feeder as well as some birds, blue tits, robins, tree creeper & woodpecker. Then a walk along the wansbeck river and across the stepping stones. A gentle walk about 21/2 miles. This national trust property has a... More

What a great visit to get into the Christmas spirit! House was beautifully decorated for Christmas with lots to see and activities for the youngsters. Lovely cafe and shop. Would like to return in summer and take more time walking the lovely grounds. Thoroughly recommend a visit.

Beautiful walk around the grounds yesterday. My Mum booked an electric scooter and the lady was helpful and considerate, providing a great thermal red blanket, which made all the difference, as it can be chilly when sitting. Went to the clock tower cafe for lunch, lovely, but packed out. Still efficient service from staff, serving hot and cold tasty food.... More

Always a beautiful place to visit, however the property is open on 3 special evenings before Christmas and we were able to visit on one of these. The staff have worked incredibly hard - all year apparently- to prepare and dress the Hall for Christmas. It was warm and welcoming - and very well attended by many families. We also... More

Visiting Wallington in the Autumnwill let you see some amazing Autumn colours. Anytime of the year is good to visit but Autumn for us is the best. Lovely walks. Good cafe for hot drinks and food when weather cold. Great.

We visited Wellington for the first time yesterday, as you enter there is a very good cafe, that caters to all needs and on two floors so lots of space, as it was half term there was lots to keep the children busy, we didn't have children with us but we enjoyed watching them tire themselves out with the activities.... Extensively renovated house set in large grounds laid out in 18th century. Pleasant walks, shrubberies and woodland. Unusual features include some stone griffin heads on the lawn. As with any National Trust property there are printed guide notes in each room as well as staff on hand to answer questions. Small gift shop; cafe/restaurant.

Took a day trip to visit Wallington Hall to hopefully see the red Squirrels, was rather pleased that they did show up the grounds are very well maintained and a lovely place for photography , only let down was the roast beef and roast potatoes meal I ordered, (ok putting two very small potatoes on the plate does satisfy the... A crisp Autumn day is maybe the best time to visit this Northumberland family seat. Only 30 minutes from the centre of Newcastle, but a million miles away in character. A throwback to a byegone era, this glorious estate is a perfect remedy to escape the hurly burly of modern living, even if just for a few hours. Stunningly beautiful... More

River walk a must, dogs loved it and took about 45 minutes. House one of the best I've visited, thoroughly recommend.
