Lovely place to visit

Children and adults will both enjoy a walk around and through these woods. You will find lots of wooden carvings of animals. I love the giraffe that looks out from a tree.

The views are outstanding from the top of the hill or to get the best view head up the folly tower which is open some Sundays.

First of all no matter what local or signs may indicate this is more than a 5-10 minute stroll from The Towns Market Place. You are climbing a hill with views of 5 counties, its steep somewhat narrow & can be muddy. A elevated stone causeway part with no barriers about 20' high in places seemed a bit dangerous to me... A pleasent walk up a steepish hill to the folly, but well worth the effort, The views are superb and the is interesting. Entry to the Tower is possible on certain days

Lovely views from the hill, and lots of bits and bobs to spot inside the woods. A great place to walk dogs or children, and I certainly recommend going up inside the tower if you get chance. The entry fee is very low and includes going out onto the roof, where you can borrow binoculars and can enjoy great views.... More

Regularly take the children and dogs for walks around the folly. Really good for little ones as you can park close by there are lots of interesting things to do in the woodland.

Had a lovely afternoon walking around the Folly & surrounding fields & lane. Lots of things to see, from a hare, blackbirds in branches & a gargoyle in a tree. Even found the don't feed the giraffe sign! And a surprise tea/coffee pop up tent. The dog loved having a sniff around.

The Tower is well worth a visit but even if it is closed the woodland is great to explore given the numerous carvings for all the family to have fun discovering. Ideally go on the website before your visit so that you know what to look for hidden in the trees and undergrowth e.g. The giant hare, mole, bat, condor,... More

A short walk to the top gives wonderful views. The Folly has an association with a Shropshire family so was of extra interest. Combine with an afternoon in Faringdon this is an excellent half day out.

It's the highlight of our little town. The folly isn't always open so you will need to check in advance. The views from the top are excellent, but even when it's closed the views from the hill are just as good! There are also lots of quirky wooden carvings to find in the woods around the folly.
