As with much of Gormley's works, these are temporary instellations the intention to inspire and create thought. You can see why he put him there looking down into the water a lovely little spot of canalside vernacular architecture and waterway engineering to visit.

Don't travel a long way to see this Gormley work of art as it was only in place for 12 months and has now been removed!!

We went in search of this piece of sculpture after reading about it in the local paper. What a wonderful spot they have found, the water adds to the scene and you want him to come to life. Very lucky to have our own Gormley in our back yard. Have been back a couple of times on walks along the canal side, he is becoming an old friend.…

I was one of the only boats out on the canal last week and entering this lock from the bottom pound you come through a very tight and low bridge, so it was quite a surprise to encounter this art installation in the February dusk (we moored up just beyond) as this was the last lock of the day. I had no idea it was a Gormley until told by a local the next day. We live quite close to Another Place but this is so different. Its a great feature and nice to see a small village owning such an artwork.…

Not easy to find but a lovely spot. Head for Lowsonford. This is right at the lock opposite the Lock Keeper's Cottage and can be viewed from the bridge. Pleasant to stand and watch the barges on the canal. Roads are very narrow country lanes so take care.
