About
Two areas of ancient hilly woodland make up most of this delightful country park. Renowned for glorious displays of bluebells in the Springtime, the park can take your breath away all year round with its hillside location offering spectacular panoramic views over four counties on a clear day. The site also has a great adventure play area/tea kiosk.

An oasis of a resource or location for walking or to cycle. It offers walks for leisure or the more strenuous routes. Offers great cross country running too. Parking charges are a bargain

We love doing on visits around the hayes. There are some many different views to take in and every season it is still engaging. The children's playground keeps both of my children entertained for a long time.

Lovely kids park and good for a vigorous dog walk. Warning - don't take prams to the woods as we got very stuck on a huge muddy hill. Otherwise, lovely views!

Hi there
Thanks for taking the time to leave us such a lovely review. We've got a range of path-types at Hartshill Hayes, and the hilly, wooded-nature of this park means that not all of the paths are suitable for prams, pushchairs and wheelchairs, but we hope that there are still plenty of well-surfaced paths that are suitable options.
Best regards, Alex

Lovely woodland to walk through. Some steep terrain. Not all flat. Cheap parking at £3 a day. Lovely cafe hatch for a warm drink

Large car park. £3 to park to be paid by card.
Three different routes to choose from although half way around the signs seem to disappear so it is guess work to get your self back to the car park.
Very steep hills in places so good if you want a sweaty, work out. I would not visit this place if your looking for a relaxing summers walk.
Nice playground area for the children which is by the car park and plenty of benches around the area.

The bluebells were wonderful and it was lovely to walk through the woods to see the blue haze. However, it would be nice to be able to get drink.. There appears to be no catering outlet

Hi Julie
The bluebell displays at Hartshill really are a sight to behold! I'm pleased to report that we've recently arranged for a mobile cafe to visit the site every weekend 11-3pm.
Kind regards, Alex

It's always great to be at one with nature here. In the winter it's especially atmospheric with the shapes of the leafless trees, the contrasting greens of the evergreens and the softness of the masses of leaves underfoot that will become the nutrients for the trees in the summer. We were very pleased on this visit to find that the signage had been improved and the route of the Blue Walk was much easier to follow.

Are the toilets currently open? Are they outside loos or do you have to go through a shop or cafe to get to them?
Are there baby pram friendly paths?
Paula C

unfortunately at the moment our toilets are not open at this site.
There is a path along the meadow you can take a baby pram, and potentially into the woods as there are surfaced paths, but please do bear in mind this is a woodland site, and as such is hilly in places and undulated, although the main paths are surfaced, they are not tarmac.
Are there electric scooter suitable paths available?

in terms of the wood, not really unless you had something like a 'tramper' or more robust than a normal 'shoprider' type......as the site is on a hillside.
The alternative would be to come in from the bottom from the Woodlands estate and just use the central main ride path along the bottom of the wood - that is quite flat and easy going.
If you have a normal type scooter then the top path along to the meadow has some splendid views and you can easily turn round on this path and come back to avoid going down any steep paths.
What distance is the red St. Lawrence walk? Is it a signposted circular walk?

Hi,
Its probably just under 1 and half miles and yes it is signposted
Is the woodland safe enough to walk barefoot?

We wouldn't recommend it! As its a dog walkers paradise, there could be those who don't pick up after their pets, and also potential for broken glass etc.,

Is it suitable for kids bikes...paths etc
ManagerKWP

The site is a woodland and can be quite steep in places, paths are not tarmaced. Would depend really on age and ability of child, and level of competence.
If you want something a little more level and surfaced, then either Pooley Country Park or Kingsbury Water Park might be a better option.
Ideally, this woodland is better for walking.
