We spent a couple of hours here during our trip to the Tamar Valley. It really is an impressive display of all things from past years. It is an interactive museum, with lots of things to touch and play with. The more recent history of the rescue of the two miners was well-presented and respectfully explained. Well worth a visit!

We visited this site a little while back and, given the events that took place where two miners escaped a certain horifying fate, it is interesting to see that the mine site is now starting to collapse back into itself at the place where those two men emerged from the elevator and placed their tags on the board !! It... More

An amazing place with lots of atmosphere. The mine rises above the houses and can be seen as you enter the village. The centre is very well set out, the staff helpful and knowledgable. The heritage centre is full of steam artefacts, also local bygones and tells the story of that fateful mine disaster and the amazing rescue of two... More

So much recent history having taken place here. The entire setup is well presented particularly the story of the miners rescue. Although site is collapsing it is well worth visiting just to see its history, what has happened and what is planned. It is easy to spend over one hour here. If you know the story of Beaconsfield then this... More

This is worth going to for a few reasons. The buildings are interesting, we had a guide who really brought the place to life. The museum part inside is really something and then there is the whole disaster story section - well handled and very moving.

If you are staying in Launceston you must make some time to take the easy 30 - 40 minute drive out to Beaconsfield and visit the Beaconsfield Mine and Heritage Centre. My wife and I did and we were pleasantly surprised. Located right in the centre of town it is truly a memorable experience especially with a family with young... More

We didn't have time to do the tour and it was raining at the time of our visit but it was still great to stop and check out the buildings and history. They also have a good visitors Centre. It takes you back to when all the news coverage was there. Worth a visit.

wonderful to visit and see how the mine operated. Also the history of the mine collapse and rescue was very interesting to read about and remember what we all saw on TV.

Absolutely well worth visiting, lots of information about the mine accident and news videos to watch. Displays of the times when the miners where there and machinery used. For the kids there is interactive areas and a hunt for little critters find. We all enjoyed visiting here and our son got a history lesson👍
