Wonderful scenary

Visited in march. Really enjoyed the place. Walks are scenic, long, and remote (not many people about, which is a bonus).

It's a must to have a stop on the way through. We stopped near the boat ramp and walked to the lake for a amazing view of the lake.

Was a nice walk around the lake seeing one very friendly echidna but without seeing any platypus bit of a let down but you have to be very lucky to actually spot one.

Another beautiful scenic location on our road trip to cradle mountain. There was a fog cover over the lake in the morning but we were lucky and it clear off just half an hour after so we got great picture of the lake near pump house point. The visitor centre was not as good as others in Tasmania but had... More

Another stunning location. A sandy beach to wander along, a large body of water to gaze at and mountains in the distance. We had good weather for our visit which had to help.

Decided to have Devonshire tea. It was served with 2 scones opened and covered in marmalade jam with a dab of dairy whip. I asked for a fruit jam and the foreign staff said this was the way it was served. So be prepared for dude scones and unresponsive staff of you plan to have $10 Devonshire tea.

Lake St Clair, is a great stop if your travelling up or down the west Coast of Tasmania, its the drop off and pick up point for the Overland Track, a favourite 6 day walk for many, there is a great information and history centre plus a café to sit and relax and also accommodation.

We stayed at Pumphouse Point on Lake St Claire so got fabulous views of the lake by day and night. We wandered down to the visitors centre for half a day and did the short walk to Watersmeet which was along a broad track. Coming back we walked along the beach which was a little muddy in places, but quiet.... More

Great cabins. Fully equipped and really luxurious. Excellent cooked breakfast in the main restaurant, too. Rang reception before arrival to book restaurant meal but member of staff failed to put it in the restaurant booking diary (not very competent), so ate in the bar. Cheaper and the same food. When checked out, heard member of staff telling others their card... More
