Spirit of Tasmania is one of Australia’s most iconic travel experiences, operating sailings across Bass Strait between Melbourne and Devonport on Tasmania’s north coast. Spirit of Tasmania provides travellers with flexibility and convenience when planning a holiday. Our twin ships depart from both ports at 7.30pm and arrive the following morning at 6.00am. During peak season, we also operate day sailings departing from each port at 9.00am and arriving the same day at 6.00pm. On board, you can experience spectacular views, delicious food, great entertainment, relaxation and so much more! Experience the allure of sea travel. It’s fun, relaxing and stress-free. Simply drive on board for a holiday where half the fun is getting there. Embrace the ocean views, stroll the decks and breathe in the sea breeze - there’s nothing quite like it!

It feels like a cruise, but only for the night. Smooth boarding and disembarking. Being a mature aged female travelling by herself I felt concerned about the boarding, but things are done so it is really smooth and hassle free. Beds are comfy and warm....More

We came across to Tasmania Nov 2018 on a DAY CROSSING. We had no cabin and found we didn't need one for a day crossing as there were plenty of comfy seats, lounges and TV to watch if chatting wasn't your thing. Food onboard was...More

No complaints as there were no dramas, no rough seas (sadly), but nothing super special Staff did their jobs competently and efficiently. The real surprise was the 4 berth cabin we (2) had which was really comfy and had all we required so we had...More

As ferry rides go it was extremely expensive, $1300 for a return trip for 2 people, car and a 2 person single beds cabin only. Glad for the experience, but will not use this means of travel again. Travelled from Naples to Palermo recently with...More

Have traveled before on the spirit. It was a day trip. This time it was a night trip. Much easier. More efficient getting on and off now. Stayed in a two bedroom cabin. Able to sleep through the night to wake up refreshed in the...More

Good way to get to Tasmania from Port Melbourne. Seas were quite rough so sea sick tablets are required if you suffer sea sickness. Drinks and food on board are ok and reasonably priced. Plenty of things to do until 10pm then there is nothing...More

We were impressed by the efficiency of loading/unloading our vehicle at Melbourne and Devonport. All staff were friendly and courteous. We had a deluxe cabin that was spacious and comfortable. We had a reasonable sleep despite some of the feral waves in the Bass Strait...More

The staff, from checking the car in through to disembarking were brilliant. Very efficient, courteous friendly and helpful. It was extremely clean throughout and everything worked as it should. Food options were good.

We opted for recliners rather than cabins and had good sleep both ways. The food was quite expensive and for the most part not very special but OK
