There is a long and upsetting history here, some of which they don't speak about, this can be a very emmotional place for some, a must visit

We toured the site and also did the Ghost Tour at night. The guides told many tales and in particular the Ghost tour guide made the night an adventure. Thankfully no "Ghostly appearances" but a very different perspective from the day light. Highly recommend this...More

Thought a couple of hours might have been sufficient, but there is so much history to review. Loved the sanatorium. A lot of effort has obviously gone into maintaining the Penal Colony. Well worth the easy drive from Hobart.

Both places are worth a visit. Port Arthur would be of far more interest to children than MONA.

The cruise is at the site itself. When you purchase the ticket, you can ask them for the times available and slot yourself in :)
