Quite undulating, descent path, a few more signs to give idea of distance would be great. Once you reach the "summit" the view is incredible.

Probably one of the best hike I have every done in Tasmania by far. The landscape is breathtaking and the hike all the way through was remarkable. Completed the hike in approximately 5~5.5 hours with lots of stops in between and a good lunch at...More

This is a superb hike requiring a reasonable level of fitness - I'm in my mid-sixties and am not super fit, so there was some puffing and panting, but it's truly worth the effort. The walk goes through various kinds of vegetation, starting with a...More

I did the Cape Raoul day hike on a Sunday near the end of March. I was staying in Hobart and started off quite early shortly after the sunrise (around 7:30). I wasn't able to use Cape Raoul as such as the destination on the...More

If you cannot face a 5 hour walk - make the effort to visit the Cape Raoul Lookout (and Shipstern Lookout just 200m in the other direction at the fork). Parking is tricky near the start after 12km of rutted unsealed road and the walk...More

This is quite a long hike that I would categorise as medium-hard. That means that if you're a hiker and do plenty of it then this would be a medium hike, if you had little so far then this will be a hard hike but...More

2 hours drive from Hobart. Read here that it is hard to get there. When we put Cape Raoul we arrived exactly where we wanted to. There is an old-fashioned “toilet” just before the walk. There are NO fresh water sources around, so we definitely...More

This is a must do hike in Tassie. We clocked it at 8 k each way and for 3 x 65+ oldies it was difficult in parts (down and back up the mountain) but we took it easy and the vistas were breathtaking. The actual...More

I did this as part of the three capes. It was breathtaking - the walk and the view. Rugged coastline, savage waters and beautiful wildlife make for a great hike

The Cape Raoul lookout is more than 20 minutes, probably about 40 minutes but is worth the walk. Depends on the fitness of the 70 year olds- I am 69 and have no trouble, being a fairly regular walker
