- bree sGirard, Ohio112 contributionsNature walkingWe had beautiful weather when we visited. Our bucket list was to do the canopy walk and the emergent tower. We were able to do both. My children have a fear of heights as well as I do. We all faced our fears and saw incredible views! It was a small hike from the parking lot to the area we climbed. The Holden is also part of the museums4all organization so you can get discounted tickets and parking if you have an EBT card. Right now, the flowers and trees were still bare but I bet it should look great in the summer or fall.Thank you for visiting and sharing your experience. - froglady607Sagamore Hills, Ohio144 contributionsCome smell the blossoms!Really a large area with so much to see! We enjoyed all the blossoming flowers and bushes along with the butterfly area garden with water areas. Saw a black snake there. The Lego block structures were awesome. We went onto the canopy for a little walk. Then we tackled the tower. I was determined and finally made it to the top. Probably took me 5 minutes, but the view and sense of accomplishment was worth it! We were there about 2 1/2 hours and I was tired! Definitely a great outdoor activity!Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 5 August 2023

The gardens were beautiful, the paths well-marked and the Canopy Walk and Emergent Tower had breathtaking views. I wished I lived closer to the park.

One of the more peaceful and beautiful places I have been on a weekday in late October with colorful leaves, gorgeous trail walks, and easy trails for a senior with a cane and even getting to the Murch Canopy Walk through the trees was accessible. My husband did the 200 steps up to the Tower and the view was incredible. Stickwork Tilt a Whirl was phenomenal but gone now. Well worth the admission.

Thank you for sharing your experience! Our grounds are a treat year-round, but especially in the fall. Hope you and your husband visit again soon. Thanks!

Spent about 2.5 hours here in September. There were 3 things to call out:
Stickwork - is being taken down but it was unique
Tower - 202 steps, can see above tree line
Canopy - 3 sections, very easy to go onto canopy as it is a gradual ramp up to it
Some flowers were still in bloom when we went in September.
Overall, worthwhile to visit.

A wonderful very large arboretum with many many trails. There is something for everyone. Wetlands-Flower Gardens-Woodlands. Interactive displays for kids. To see everything takes awhile. There’s bench’s and quiet areas for reflection lakes and ponds.

Thank you for visiting Charlene. The arboretum is beautiful all-year-round, but especially in fall. Hope you can come back once the leaves start to change color :)

What a beautiful place! A bit of a drive east of Downtown Cleveland but worth it. Tons of beautiful flower gardens, grassy spaces, lakes, and forests. Native plants and shady places. Murch Canopy Walk and Kalberer Emergent Tower. Great for adults as well as children.

Thank you for visiting and for the positive review! We are happy you enjoyed your visit. Be sure to come back in the fall to experience fall color from the canopy walk and tower. It's breath-taking.

We had a wonderful time exploring these beautiful grounds and walking the paths. The Canopy Walk and Emergent Tower offer a unique above-ground experience which we loved! Excellent signage so you can walk all around and not get lost. If you're in the Cleveland area add this to your list of not-to-be-missed sights.

How many steps to get to the canopy walk and are they steep or gradual?

It is gradual, but it is quite a climb. Take your time and it will be okay, but it is a bit intense if you are not used to walking a lot.
How many steps to get to the canopy walk and are they steep or gradual?

The Canopy Walk is a ramp, no steps. The website says it is wheelchair accessible to the first platform. After that, depends on size of your wheelchair. A transport chair should be able to go the entire walk. The Emergent Tower is the one with lots of steps.

202 steps to the top. There platforms allowing you to stop, rest and view the forest on your way up. New benches were just installed on some of the platforms, giving you a place to sit on the way up.

are there paths which are handicaped accessable?
Morrigan200
Cleveland, OH39 contributions
There are a mix of path surfaces. The Display Garden has a sealed gravel path, the Norweb Tree Allee and the Rhododendron Discovery Garden are concreted. Other areas are packed dirt. The arboretum also offers guided tram tours for a small fee, which make seeing the grounds easier for people with mobility issues.
