Only spent a short time here but was a very unique park. Would of been amazing to be there during the equinox and solstices

Wonderful event for the Solstice
Jun 2019
We attended a special event for the Summer Solstice with a talk, music and chance to view the stars through one of several telescopes. A must see.

Good to know before you go....

Attended the "Milky Way" program on Saturday night. A pretty good size crowd. A couple of things that are good to know: 1) You should register at John Glenn Astronomy Park for a parking pass as parking is limited, 2) take lawn chairs as there are a limited number of benches, 3) There is a speaker before the show but the real show does not start until it is dark and the telescopes can work properly - plan to be there for 2 hours or more. 4) Bring something for children to do...there is a playground in the back. 5) there are volunteers selling cold water for $1. It is a nice program but requires patience waiting in line for your turn at the telescope(s). It is a great place for star gazing and the sky really lights up on a clear night.

Summer Solstice Event
Jun 2019 • Couples
We had heard a lot of hype about this event. Had to park at Whispering Cave and get shuttled over because it was such a big event. No problem with that. Sat on the ground, no chairs provided. No problem with that for us, for some older people, it would be a problem I'm sure. The speaker spoke for about 15 min without a microphone and had a guitar player with an amp do some soundbytes to go with his presentation. The issue is that you couldnt hear over the music, also they had a tv sat up in the middle, so those on one half of the area were at the back of the tv. Only thing served as far as refreshments was bottled water that you could buy. We were not impressed.

this is a nice park, though the weather did not allow for us to go at night and to look at the stars, will put this on the list for the next time.
