It's Ohio - Expect a train ride in the plains

This train ride was your typical ride through the farm lands of Ohio. The staff was nice. I recommend getting the open-air car. You park right next to the train station.

We lived here all our lives and never taken the train. We decided last Christmas to take our children and grandchildren and they loves the scenic view and the fact that Santa showed up and talked to each child

We took the Summer Wine Express that benefits Stuart's Opera House. We paid extra for the VIP experience which included air conditioned seating and the commemorative wine glass. The other seating option was open air train cars. The train seats face another set which makes it a great place for a couples night out. Arrive earlier so you can all... More

If you've never ridden on a genuine passenger rail car, this is a nice way to experience it - in a clickety-clack relaxed atmosphere. If you feel the need for constant entertainment, this may not be the ride for you. I last rode a real passenger train in elementary school as part of a field trip where we rode from... More

Our family decide to take this historical train ride during the Christmas season which included our two grandchildren for the novelty of it. The staff are genually very friendly and helpful - just nice people. Yes, Santa did appear and took time to talk to each and very child on the train! Nice touch. I certainly applaud the organization for... More

Talked about doing a train ride for years. Decided this year to actually do it. Went with my mom, husband and 2 kids. We went during the 6pm ride. The area outside the trains were nice and cozy, was able to use the restroom and get hot coco and cookies for the cost of a donation. The ride itself was... More

My friends and I took this train ride as part of our girl's weekend activities. It was okay and we had fun. It took you to Haydenville and back past the depot to the campus of Hocking College where they had a small Pioneer Village. It is called Robbin's Crossing. There they have small cabins that you can walk through.... More

The journey through the picturesque countryside took about two hours and included a visit to reconstructed historic village dwellings at Robbins Crossing. The on board commentary was informative and easily heard. Disabled access to the carriages was available.

This train ride was the biggest disappointment for me. My husband and adult son took me on the ride for my birthday. We had spent time in the Hocking Hills and had enjoyed everything else from hiking to eating at the lodge. Please save your money. The train goes by gravel pits and old towns. Not much scenery. We were... More

We are sorry that you were disappointed with our train ride. Our mission statement, in part, reads …. the preservation, restoration and operation of historic railroad equipment for the education and entertainment of the general public. We feel we live up to that with each and every run. Keep in mind that the track we travel over was originally built... More

The scene along the railway is not beautiful. Also, a lot of windows are so old and blurry that you basically can't see anything outside clearly. I would not recommend this ride to others.
