HAR-BER VILLAGE MUSEUM is a seasonal (March 15-November 15) pioneer-era village and history museum located on the shores of Grand Lake o' the Cherokees in Oklahoma. Visitors experience the area's history and ecology through self-guided tours. Antiques, collectibles and reproductions are displayed in exhibitions representing the mid-1800s to the early 1900s in the local four-state region (Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri and Kansas). Several of the Village's HISTORIC BUILDINGS were relocated to the grounds, including a schoolhouse, jail and 16 log cabins. Other log structures were built to house collections and are typical for the mid-to-late 1800s-a courthouse, a bank, a stagecoach inn and a church built with bricks hand-made before the Civil War. Other replicated buildings include a mercantile, jail and hanging gallows, a doctor's and a dentist's office, print shop, post office, drug store and more. Haven't been to Har-Ber Village in a while? EXHIBITS have been recently renovated and/or relocated, HANDS-ON ACTIVITY STATIONS added (Kid's Cabin, Nursery, School, Jail, Saloon), and frequent WORKSHOPS, events and historic craft and trade demonstrations have become a part of Har-Ber Village's offerings (blacksmith DEMONSTRATIONS, spinning and weaving demonstrations and historic craft WORKSHOPS.

Wonderful!!! Well worth the small entrance fee. This takes as long or as short as you wish. You walk around the many many displays and buildings. We loved this village and highly recommend the trip into Grove to see it.

Interesting place. Each little building has items for different professions in the 1800's such as barber, hat maker, doctor. Quaint little school house. Also has a very large collection of various glasswares. Walking paths from building to building. Small diner if you get hungry. Well worth a visit. Also has special classes for different crafts on some Saturdays.

Definitely for all ages. Lots of unusual history, very clean, well laid out and a 100 buildings! A step back in time as another visitor reviewed. If you live anywhere near here, its worth the trip!

Thanks for the review! I'm curious as to why you thought it was better than expected? It would help us know how to better promote our museum. Thanks again. More

Step back in time! See what life was like many years ago! You can view everything from a dentist's office from around 1917, a doctor's office from many years ago, clothing from years ago including wedding dresses and hats, as well as a lovely chapel right along the lake. Beautiful grounds! Go at your own pace. Great for families! There... More

I have lived in Oklahoma most of my life and had never heard of this place. My husband and I were discussing someplace close to visit on a day trip. He mentioned he'd been here as a kid and we looked it up online and found out the village had just reopened for the season. It is a self guided tour... More

We almost had the place to ourselves! Very quite, self guided tour. Tons of neat stuff to see. Prices were ok. Grounds were pretty. Yard help was blowing leaves around the grounds while there. Disruptive and just stirring up more dust! Yuck! We stayed 1.5 hrs.

Sorry about the blowing and dust--we usually do that before 9am. And if we do need to blow leaves, our staff usually are aware of visitors and stop. More

There are 101 exhibits in this quaint walk through exhibit. Tons of artifacts from the pioneer days with many log cabins being the actual homes of people. It was very educational and fun for a day trip.
