Obtaining information was somewhat confusing as some reference the structure as a "Masonic Temple" some Guthrie Scottish Rite and some Scottish Rite Temple. With that said this "attraction" presents very interesting architecture, furnishings and history. No self-guided tours; guided tours are 10:00 am and 2:00 pm at $5/person. Initially we and others thought the building was closed until we realized... More

I am a Mason. In fact, I now possess every masonic degree attainable except one. I love this temple. I know the history behind the building. The architecture in the building is phenomenal. This place is a must see for Masons and given its history it should be a must see for all Oklahomans. There are tours available but call... More

The Guthrie Scottish Rite Temple is one of the most beautiful Masonic building west of the Mississippi. I was blown away when I saw it for the first time as a kid. As an adult and a Freemason, I couldn't wait to go back and see it again. The different and unique room styles are phenomenal. The best part of... More

Had no idea how lavish this place is-imported marble, expensive rugs, unique stained glass. Especially surprising that it was built in Oklahoma's infancy. Someone had quite a vision for that era on the frontier. We saw several of the 300+ rooms. Take a guided tour if possible. There was nothing mentioned about Mason's except that it is a fraternity and... More

We visited Guthrie in 2006 and saw this huge strikingly out of place structure the takes up a city block. After doing some calling around I learned you tour the facility by appointment on the weekends. I think we called 405-282-1281 to set up the tour. From street level it is a massive limestone edifice that looks like it should... More

I attended the Spring 2016 Scottish Rite and managed to see nearly all of the building over a period of several days. There are really two parts to the building: (1) The original OK Territorial Capital building, which now houses the dorm and the dining facilities; and (2) the Scottish Rite Cathedral proper, which was built onto the front of... This building had over three hundred rooms. I didn't see them all, but the ones I saw were so beautiful. I loved the theme room about Egypt, the library and the organ. They give tours at 10:00 and 2:00. They charge $5.00 for admission unless you are a mason. They also rent two rooms out for weddings because it is... More

My husband is wondering weather to join the masons or not. We thought this was a good opportunity to hear something more about the organisation and see the biggest masonic temple in the world in the same time. The guide knew a lot about the beautifull architecture, furniture and other decorative items in the temple. The building itself is absolutely... More

One would expect a Masonic Temple to have impressive masonry and this one doesn't disappoint, but the interior design was quite surprising. Done by a New York designer, every room represents a different time in history. So, whether you're into architecture, construction or design, you'll want to visit this incredible site. Word of caution, call ahead to make sure it's... More
