If driving from Baker City, drive 6 miles NE of I-84 taking Exit 302…If coming from the East, as we did from The Snake River-Halfway, follow Hells Canyon Scenic Byway SR86 until you see the clearly marked road signs. The Center is very impressive with...More

This should be a must-do stop for anyone visiting the Baker City area. The storytelling via the exhibits are fantastic. I'm not usually a museum-type person but even I could feel the history of the Oregon Trail come alive. My husband who IS a history...More

Wonderfully put together evocative, chronological displays of life on the trail. Good, informative video film of the trail, too. (However, it is showing its age, and needs redoing for the digital age. Colour and definition are both a bit poor) Excellent value, too

Went here on a tour. Very nice facility and lots of good information and history. The walk to the ruts was long and tiring and I didn’t see many if any🤔

Very thorough overview of the experience of migrating westward on the Oregon Trail. We enjoyed the movie, then walked through the exhibits. The orientation of the museum allows the visitors to feel as if they too are walking westward into the mountains.
