This is a big ole cave! Be sure to bring a jacket, good shoes and an extra flashlight- I wouldn't want to get stuck in the dark down there. This is not for claustrophobic people.

September 1, 2017 - While staying at Bend, Oregon, we drove south to the Lava River Cave. Before entering the cave, you have to sit through a short presentation about the cave and bats. The Park wants to be sure that you are not wearing...More

Spent a week in Bend, Oregon for daughter's wedding. Tried to see as many of the surrounding sites as possible. The cave was a long walk. Very cold, be sure to dress warm. Wish I had gloves.

What a great experience to hike thru a cave on our own. We rented the flashlights since we did not have any w us. I would recommend either bringing a flashlight or paying the nominal rental fee. You walk at your own pace and enjoy...More

I went here recently with family, we had 3 adults, and 2 small children. I was the only one that had been in a cave before, so we listened to the info about white nose disease that was possible to transfer to the bats that...More

First, get there early. If the parking lot is full, you will just have to circle around and around or come back later. You cannot 'make ' a place to park. The rangers will tell you to move. GET the high powered flash lights for...More

Yes, you could use a baby back pack in here. You can also go as far as you want. It is only 40- something in the cave, so make sure your baby is dressed appropriately.
