Fun for kids to adults as the area is so amazing to see. Take the shuttle to the top for a great view of all the lava flows as well as a wonder view of the mountains.

I took my 9 year old and we had a great day. She did the Junior Ranger program and we hiked all around and took the shuttle to the top. We had a great day!

This was very informative and the views from the top were awesome. We attempted to hike the hill but the trail does not go all the way to the top so we backtracked and took the shuttle to the top. Walked the loop, took lots...More

We learned so much at the Visitor Center. It helped us to understand much of what we saw as we walked the trails through the lava fields. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and would definitely recommend it to others.

This offers the opportunity to drive to the top of the butte and hike around the cone. Great views of the surrounding area.

Stopped in before Memorial Day so the Visitors Center was not actually open. Neither was the lava cave. Bummer! So the two of us (brothers) spent our time walking around the lava fields. There are a few information boards along the trails to describe the...More

If you’re exploring Newberry Volcano National Monument this is an informative first stop. You can check out the static displays about volcanic activity, listen to a ranger talk or engage one of the rangers wandering around in your own areas of interest. Nothing spectacular but...More

Thousands of years old lava appeared so recent. Felt amazed. Quite informative and educational. Just unlucky that bus and road to lava butte was closed and not easy to walk 2 miles up with an infant so just dropped the idea. But the view from...More

The lava tube is an easy walk with the flashlight but uneven services so you just have to be careful and keep the light well lit. Good batteries. I think it was a mile down and a mile back. But you don't have to go all the... More

The new bus that takes you up to the top of the butte costs, I think, about $3 per person. It's a new function of the park because there is so little parking up there and the road is narrow. You can stay up there as long... More
