Located along the McKenzie river, nestled in foothills of the high cascades is the Pacific Tree Climbing Institute. Expert guides provide the unique experiences of listening and viewing to both dusk and dawn choruses from the canopy top. Much like a bird waking in its nest, you will find your self aloft in the old growth canopy checking birds off your list while seeing their habitat from a new perspective.

My husband and I recently climbed with Pacific Tree Climbing Institute to sleep in the treetops and had a fantastic time. We went in November when it gets chilly at night and the sun goes down early. Also, our bad luck, it was raining the entire time. Even with the bad weather, this was an unforgettable experience and that we... More

This was an incredibly cool trip. Climbing the tree was the perfect amount of challenge--there's enough technique to doing it well that there is something to focus on improving, but you'll still get up even if you're doing it poorly, and it's fun either way. Plus the added adrenaline of looking down to see nothing below you but straight trunk... More

Fabulous experience, all the way around! First, I booked this excursion as a birthday surprise for my husband based on his oft-times stated desire to climb and sleep in a redwood tree (a la "Planet Earth" and the General). Though that isn't generally permitted to the public, I stumbled across Pacific Tree Climbing Institute, one of the only places in... More

We climbed 200 feet to the top of a Douglas fir tree named Sophia. It took 6 people to encircle Sophia. It was a daunting thought to climb 200 feet. I'm a 58 year old woman with an average physical ability, but with clear instructions from Jason I made it the 200 feet. It's not as hard as I first... More

This is one of those "oh, no, you didn't" kind of experiences that everyone will want to hear about. We did the overnight trip, and it was awesome! We started out with a very nice dinner with our new guide friends- Rob and Sarah. (Eat light and drink lighter). Then, we headed into the woods. Yes, the climb is kind... More

PTCI experience is so “different” you find yourself at a loss to equal the reward received. The change it has on you is free. As elevation changes so does the environment until you breech the ground canopy of the normal stuff around 80 feet. Then the view alone is spectacular, as you migrate to canopy dining room lounge for lunch... More

Add "go climb a tree" to your to do list when in Central Oregon, then call these guys up to go do it with. I had the pleasure of an afternoon climb with them and it is something I will always remember. When your walking around the Willamette forest you see these incredible tall trees and wonder about them. With... More
