Beautiful and a reasonable hike for a novice or expert. Central location so not far off the beaten path.

A wonderful Gorge spot - great any time of year, but all the best on a hot summer day - Oneonta is so cool and fresh in comparison. Come prepared for a swim!

I keep telling myself it was worth it as I was not prepared to get wet or dirty wearing a leather jacket and also holding a lot of electronics to boot. I climbed over some giant logs and then went into chest deep water to look at water falling over rocks. I'm either a complete idiot or a monumental genius.... More

I read many reviews in all different parts of the year. We thought it won't be bad in November. We bumped into only one guy on our way out. The water was way too cold. It was a beautiful short hike, like no other. The logs were a difficult obstacle. There came a point where I couldn't feel my feet... More

I hear there's lots of areas where you can hike around and wade in cool, cold water in bare feet in the summer - there's only so much you can hike to in the winter but it's definitely a great nature background scene to check out. You almost get lost in the luscious greens and forget you're anywhere near Portland... More

If you only have time to visit one place, this should be the place. Bring your water shoes as well as a towel and a set of clothes. There were only 2 spots where the water is deeper. First spot came up to the knee and second spot to the chest. We brought our 3 and 6 year old and... More

The day we visited it had been raining heavily that week so the water was deeper and moving faster. Going over the log jam was more difficult than I expected, very slippery. After passing the log jam the water was freezing and moving fast which made it take longer to navigate. Finally got to the deeper part and didn't go... More

I went when it rained the day before, so you can imagine the aberration of the creeks height. I was able to make it just on the log jam due to the height of the creek being around 5 feet. I was looking forward to the falls but I had to cut the loss as it seemed no one attempted... More

My husband and I stopped at Oneonta Gorge (near Horsetail Falls) on a Saturday afternoon during our Historic Columbia River Road tour. There is a large sign along the road for the gorge. The parking was difficult but we finally got a spot on the East side of the bridge. We walked through a tunnel (for foot traffic) and across... More
