Because of Coast Guard restrictions due to weather and conditions, we were not able to enjoy the excursion. However, I am awarding 5 stars because this is the most amazing group of people because they kept everyone appraised of conditions, acknowleged a change in scheduling when necessary and were right quick to make very attempt to make the excursion a... We were in suspense up until the last minute over whether our whale watch tour would be canceled because of weather and choppy waves. After a cancellation on our first day, we rebooked the next day and were hustled down to the wharf for a noon takeoff in iffy weather. As we left, another boat tipped Captain Dan to the... More

I went there with my oldest son's family from Sweden. The information and video before the actual whale watching was very good and the we had a compassionate lecturer/guide. The group of seven had to be split on two boats but they cooperated so all of us got to see a whale.

My cousin and I went on a whale watching excursion in early April and saw some gray whale tails! Dan was our captain and he was absolutely fantastic! The two boats that went out were in constant communication about if they spotted one and then we would follow one another. You aren't on a big boat, you go out on... More

My wife and I and three others had a blast with Capt. Dan and his 6-passenger Zodiac boat. He was extremely knowledgeable of not only the whales but also of other marine life and the history of this quaint town. We saw five gray whales and one humpback and were "fluked" by the humpback-all within 10 yards from the boat.... More

SO glad we opted to go out with Carrie for whale watching. Her knowledge of the whales is outstanding and her co-pilot, Kida, the whale sniffing dog was an added treat. We saw whales from the moment we left the harbor, and plenty of them! Also, the Zodiac boats are great fun to ride in! This was a highlight of... More

Carrie and her crew were amazing. The tour was really nice and we got to see a few whales. They were amazing at spotting them from far away and getting us up close with the whales. Their experience and passion for this shows throughout the tour. We went in October but will definitely visit again in the summer

Went whale watching and what an amazing experience. We saw about 10 different whales within 20 feet of our boat. And we were also lucky enough to see a humpback 🐋 whale. Which was a real treat. Dan was our captain and he was kind, funny and very knowledgeable. What a great day...

Heard whales sightings were great, so we were lucky to find Whale Research EcoExcursions. It was great, because not only did we see whales, we watched a video starring Carrie and she educated us about gray whales and why they come to Depoe Bay, Oregon. We met Carrie and her enthusiasm made us even more excited to see the whales.... More

If you are looking for a whale watching experience that will educate you before and during the time on the boat, this should be your choice of tours in Depoe Bay. The time spent watching the video on gray whales from a person who's life work and passion (Carrie) is whales, does an excellent job of preparing you on what... More
