Turn at O'brian mkt. and keep going down to 6mi. past ranger station 1 spot has a beach and the only shade tree for camping longer term. Big rock to jump from. 1 of 2 protected rivers in Or. Very clean water. I use to drink it 20 yrs. ago. You can see the fishes. and wildlife abounds. Beautiful, next to Kalmeopsis wilderness area so lots of forest. I highly recommend this spot. And this river. Please don't litter TIA. Patrick Price

It wasn’t on our to do list on our road trip but we decided to check it out anyways since we were the masters of our road trip lol. Glad we decided to stop because it was simply beautiful. We had a grand old time here and the people of Oregon are simply wonderful people so it was a memorable stop.

Not much to say about a river. the water is very clear and cold. If you enjoy the quiet outdoors than this the place even in the summer.

This is a place that gives you the peace of knowing that your surrounding are completely untouched. A true glimpse of nature. Crystal clear water and abundant foliage are the stars here. Wonderful places to take a swim and sunbath..hayack or raft along in peaceful setting

Beautiful scenery and worth the drive. We saw this where it merged with the Rouge River. Gorgeous. We drove up to see the little town of Agnes, not much to see but a quaint little general store.

Not much water in the river now but it's still beautiful. Head to the Oak Flat Campground and walk up the trail a bit. Fun place to visit to hit the river.

My husband and I drove up the rogue and up the Illinois as far as the road would take us. There is an overlook where we watched buzzards eating a dead fish and then drove down into the campground area along the river. Was happily surprised to find a bathroom! There was only one other vehicle there with nobody in sight. So peaceful and beautiful that we decided to bring kayaks back the next day. We had a wonderful time kayaking and watching wildlife. We portaged are kayaks up one small set of rapids and continued journey up river. Well worth it. Beautiful canyon with interesting rock formations jutting up in the river. Saw many kinds of birds and a black bear. Water was warm and very shallow in most places. Really a lovely day.

Here's a quiet place on the river away from the boat traffic. Enjoy the warm sun and rest on the gravel bars. Float in the cool moving river water. It is away from the masses. I was just sad that there wasn't much water in our ongoing drought.
