Franco Marchesi's passion for wine began in his hometown of Borgosesia, Peimonte, Italy. As a child he always wondered what it would be like to be a winemaker like his grandfather Achille. After running his own import company specializing in Italian wines for over 20 years, Franco began planting his favorite Northern Italian grapes in Hood River, where the climate and soil are just like Northern Italy. Please come visit, and taste our wines. Salute!

My husband and I had a great visit here. It is the first winery experience out of multiple states where they served your wine tastings after you are seated. Much better opportunity to enjoy the tasting rather than standing at a bar and feeling somewhat...More

This winery blew us away. The setting is spectacular - although there isn't a view of the valley, the set up of the tables and chairs within the vines make it remarkable, with fans and mist blowing beneath pergolas while Italian music plays softly in...More

The grounds were nice, with a good view of the vineyard. The wines were okay but not exactly memorable.

On a four winery tour of Hood River, this one was unanimously top of the bunch by the four of us. Here's why: unusual (for Oregon) selection of Italian varietals instead of French and German that were all good. Lovely tasting room with view of...More

Marchesi Vineyards is a nice, quiet place to taste some wine and have a snack before going to dinner. For $10 per person, you can try their six (I think) different wines that are listed on their menu. You choose a place to sit outside...More

There on a Sunday late afternoon and it was bustling. The outdoor seating area under lattice with well trained misters made for a pleasant sitting area on a hot day. Breadsticks were a very much appreciated extra. Rose wine I really enjoyed while the reds...More

I agree that asking Marchesi directly is necessary.
