There was no sign of park ranger. Parking spaces for cars are hard to find. The place itself is worth visiting.

Beautiful place and view we didn't spend a long time but it was worth the stop. Wish we could have spent more time.

This turned out to be our favorite waterfall on the Columbia River Gorge. It’s a fairly large waterfall. You can wade put into the water and even swim under the falls. It was beautiful.

Horsetail Falls was the first stop on our self-guided car tour, coming from the direction of Hood River. It was July 4th and we weren't sure what the parking situation would be. These shuttle and trolley were sold out so we arrived before 8:00 a.m. at horsetail. There were still a few parking spots available and not very many people at the base of the lower Falls. It was beautiful, tranquil and very refreshing. I am elderly and unable to hike steep Trails so we were happy to sit quietly at the base of this beautiful place and listen to the water falling and feel the gentle spray in the heat.

There are two waterfalls at this location, an upper and lower one. You can see the latter from the parking lot. Bring some water shoes to soak your feet on the nice pool at the foot of the lower waterfall. The upper one is about 0.4 miles up the hill. There is not that much shade on this steep path, but it’s worth the hike.

Yasss, Im in waterfall haven! This area of Oregon has quite a few waterfalls, make sure you stop bye the visitor center first for a free map. This will maximize your time, we had alot planned on this trip. The volunteers are indeed helpful with ideas for our day.
There is a small parking alot in front of this waterfall, you cant miss it. Dont miss this waterfall, its absolutely stunning!! The best part there is no climbing or walking far to enjoy all this glory. This by far is my second favorite waterfall along the waterfall corridor. Oregon I will be be visiting again real soon!!

Nice stop to check out the falls. They are places to park and a short walk. My and my grand daughter stop by for a few photos and enjoyed the falls.

We stopped by on our way to The Multnomah Falls and weren’t disappointed! Even though it’s a smaller fall, it’s still beautiful and peaceful! I would definitely say it’s a must see if you love nature

Horsetail Falls embodies nature's profound elegance, an exquisite display of hydrodynamics interwoven with geological artistry. As water descends from the precipice, it converges into delicate ribbons, resembling a cascading horse's tail, evoking a sense of graceful motion frozen in time. The interplay of gravity, surface tension, and fluid dynamics orchestrates a captivating ballet, inviting contemplation of the laws that govern our universe.
This natural marvel serves as a poignant reminder of the intricate interconnections within our ecosystem. From the eroded rocks that shape its path to the lush vegetation that thrives in its mist-laden proximity, Horsetail Falls represents a harmonious synergy of elements. Observing the falls prompts reflections on the delicate balance maintained by nature, inspiring a profound appreciation for the intricate complexity and interconnectedness inherent in the natural world. It beckons us to embrace curiosity and delve into the depths of scientific inquiry, fostering a deeper understanding of the marvels that surround us.

How long in miles is the roundtrip on this trail going all the the way to triple falls? I will be visiting the Columbia river gorge in the middle of July, is 2 days too much time to spend in this area? We don't do the water sports, but I would like to hike Multnomah falls to the top and hike the Oneonta gorge at least to the first waterfall. My wife is 5.3 will she be too small to get across the water to the waterfall in the Oneonta Gorge?
Thanks

I live in Portland and have visited the Gorge several times by car and some hiking trips. I don't do water sports as the water is freezing all year! When you go to Multnomah Falls there is a visiting center where you can get maps of hiking trails and a map to hike all the Water Falls in the loop. If you going in July you will enjoy it as it should be really hot and humid. You can also take a scenic drive that takes you up to Crown Point ( a must see), and a stop at The ViewPoint Inn built in 1926 that is on the cover of the book Twilight and the Prom was filmed there in the movie. It burned on the inside and they were renovating it when I was there. The best investment you can buy is a book called Curious Gorge by Scott Cook. It covers over 100 Hikes and Explorations in the Columbia Gorge.I keep it in my car and have almost seen everything in the book :)
