One of the relatively safer neighborhoods in Portland. However, as many others pointed out, the price range is on the higher end. It was nice to walk along the street, but not an ideal place to make purchases for me as many of the items were above my budget.

Great area local shops. Try the resturant 23 Hoyt. Very safe and pleasant to walk through day or night.

My favorite region of Portland. I was familiar with it from previous business trips to the area; when my partner and I visited the city for a few days, we ended-up spending a lot of time in this part of town. There’s tree-lined streets with apartment buildings and houses of various architecture, lots of local shops (and chain stuff, especially as you head South), and a lot of good, local dining and coffee shops. A really charming area. Compared to other neighborhoods, it also seemed less affected by COVID-19 (i.e., less quiet than downtown or the Pearl District). You can take the street car, or you can park—street parking wasn’t free but was ample and pretty easy to pay for using the Parking Kitty app. The best streets are NW 23rd and NW 21st. Highly recommended.

Plenty of nice little boutiques. The southern end of 23rd avenue has big name shops but the northern and has the boutiques. From clothes to shoes to books to paraphernalia. Interspersed with the boutiques are plenty of dining and drinking options. A nice way to spend a few hours with people you care about.

Portland has its fair share of great neighborhoods but this one reigns supreme. Lots of stores, restaurants and fun bars. Take the streetcar to 23rd ave and hop off. Go wander. Great people watching too. It's like being in a village. Everything is right there.

21st ave is a ton of fun too. Lots of little neighborhood bars. Pull up a bar stool and have a drink. Relax and hang out.

You must shop here at least once! It has unique local shops and restaurants. A bit pricey but well worth the trip. I highly recommend!

We stayed close to Nob Hill, and walked around here every night. Lots of cute shops and great food. Wonderful area to do some shopping or just take a stroll any time of day.

Love the shopping because the shops have a nice range of all styles and budgets. A quaint and cool Portland area not to be missed whether you're visiting from elsewhere, live in the area or have out of town guests you want to take out. For clothing a couple of my favorite clothing stores are Ipnosi, Sloan Boutique, Prana, 3 Monkeys and Dazzle. There are a lot of great home and kitchen stores like Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and World Market, plus a lot more smaller shops all along the strip. It's also the perfect place to buy a unique gift for someone special. Especially if you're looking for unique jewelry or a cashmere scarf. Besides the big name stores there are so many little nooks and crannies with unique little places not to be missed. Tender Loving Empire and the Meadow.

Lots of skin care & perfume shops, big names like Lush, Kiehl's, Blush Beauty Bar and more little spots as well carry special brand made naturally or locally.

The whole range of dining is covered from Asian, pub style, THE BEST PIZZA IN PORTLAND-Escape From NY Pizza, sushi, fresh Mexican, deli, Italian, French. Papa Haydn's is a favorite for lunch, with probably the largest dessert menu to be found, (and the best!) Gilt is lovely and has live music, Korean, Salt and Straw Ice Cream, It's all so good. St. Honore.

I live on a hill just south of Northwest 23rd and 21st Avenues. One of the reasons we purchased the home we did was its proximity to Northwest Portland, sometimes known as Nob Hill. The streets run northward from West Burnside for a mile or so, but what a mile! There are banks and dry cleaners, groceries and jewelry stores, haberdashers, and coffee bars. Both streets are replete with excellent restaurants, bars, and boutique stores. To me 23rd seems a bit more upscale, featuring more high-end dining options. But 21st is not to be ignored. It may be a bit earthier, but presents tons of fun options. It's fun to walk these two streets in the evening, watching happy people, stopping for a drink or dinner, or taking in a movie at the local theater.

This district promotes its quaint, small shop, unique personality. The success of that has made it pretty gentrified. And expensive. And hard to park. And the title of this section is wrong. 23rd sand 21st are not Nob Hill. It's NW or Alphabet district. Nob Hill is(surprise) on the Hills.
