This art museum is so so, signs and directions are not clear. Products in gift shop are not very special or fine.

We visited while the Rodin exhibit was there. It was well curated. The museum has a good collection of their own, both classic works and more modern ones. Great to enjoy for several hours on a rainy day. The gift shop is amazing as well.

This art museum is in two buildings connected by a below-ground passageway. In the main building, the Asian Art wing was closed (early April 2017) which was a disappointment but understandable as all art museums rotate their exhibits. In this main building is a special exhibit of Rodan sculpture exhibit which was good. It gave me a better appreciation for... More

This was the first time we've been to the Portland Art Museum and we were very impressed. Their special shows were very well curated and displayed and their permanent collection was beautiful. Great gift shop with lots of local crafts as well.

This is an excellent local museum with both special shows and outstanding permanent collections. This month there's an outstanding exhibit of classic American photography, and a special exhibit of Rodin sculptures. The museum participates in one of the major museum reciprocal groups, so you will get free admission if you're a member of another participating museum. They phased out their... More

Beautiful exhibits. There is quite a bit to see, so wear comfortable shoes. The museum had a large array of art, ranging from modern to contemporary, etc. If you have young children, I would recommend stopping for a break in their food area in the main entrance. You have to walk thru their gift store, which offered beautifully displayed items.... More

This is a museum that is not too overwhelming. But do allow yourself ample time to go to all levels. There is something for everyone, at every age. The Rodin Exhibit is exceptional. But if you miss it, don't despair, there is plenty of art eye candy. I am specifically interested in ceramics, old and new. Personally, I enjoyed the... More

It was our last day in Portland and it was lightly raining. We decided to visit a museum. The choices we had were the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry or the Portland Art Museum. After looking at the Trip Advisor Reviews we decided on the Portland Art Museum. It was a good choice. After checking in our coats/umbrella at... More

There are two buildings connected at the lower level - one older, the other newer. The Rodin exhibition was there, but I felt there were way too many sculptures in each room to appreciate them. Fantastic American Native art section, and some really interesting photography. $20 adult admission. In the Arts section of downtown.
