After years of hype and comparison to Seattle we made a trip to Portland. While I saw many a wonderful sights, I also saw a city overrun in a Homeless crisis. Mostly Youth teens or in early 20's dirty, holding signs and begging. It was...More

This square is very animated and in my opinion is the hearth of Portland. There is of course the Corthouse but there are a lot of other interesting things to se: some nice sculptures, seversl bricks with a name on them, a lot of restaurant...More

The courthouse square is a central point where you can book walking tours or get on the hop on hop off trolley that tours the city.

Our hotel overlooked the area - there was a wine festival there when we were. Lots of fun and music.

Fun, inviting, relaxing and interesting. One of Portlands great landmarks. People come and go. Enjoy a break or "stop and smell the roses"

Downtown Portland is not the same anymore, lots of construction and it looks dirty. Macy's downtown shot down, now there is just Nordstroms and a few other small stores, not fun anymore.

The afternoon we went by there was a very large event that was going on in the square. Nice to see so many people gathered and celebrating, but could not see the features of the square.

It will be beautiful when the renovations are completed but, for now, I'd pass and head to the parks. I don't know what is actually being done but it looks big. Another negative is the homeless that camp out and beg. One of Portland's problems.

At the time we were there, there were just a few carts and I opted for a quick hot dog and fries (which weren't the best), but there was a pulled pork sandwich cart next to it that others got and enjoyed. Not sure if these... More
