Welcome! My name is Scott. I love history and I love traveling the world to experience first hand the culture and the history of other people. I also love my hometown of Portland, Oregon. DISCOVERmyPORTLAND combines my two passions by sharing them with you on your own travels to my part of the world.Have you ever wondered how the nation’s 29th largest city came to be run by a local bartender? Or do you know about the man whose courage and "uncommon" common sense saved the City of Roses from almost certain destruction? Have you any idea the role that "architectural envy" played in the design of a Portland icon? Or how about how our own SW Broadway Street irrefutably proves that Juliet was wrong?I invite you to join me for a unique guided walking tour, which I call The Rest of the Story. Together we will follow Portland's journey from a small wilderness clearing beside the river through the rough and tumble 1800's, into the vice-ridden 20th century, and finally to the metropolitan city often voted as "One of America's Best Places to Live." Come walk with me and I will show you my Portland.

Scott fitted us in to a tour at very short notice, which we really appreciated. It was a good tour with interesting stories on people and places in Portland. The stories covered a broad spectrum of time, characters and interests. The walking was easy, so suitable for most people. I would throughly this tour for anyone visiting Portland. It is... More

My husband and I booked a tour with Scott our first day in Portland and it was awesome! It really gave us a feel for the behind the scenes story of the really cool city that we would never have gotten on our own. Portland is more about the stories and attitudes of Portlanders that Scott shares in this tour... More

I've lived in Portland my whole life and I've been on a few walking tours. Scott's tour was the most entertaining and informational tour of Portland I've ever done. I loved this I want to take visitors and friends over and over on this tour. Scott's knowledge will empress you. Discover my Portland!!! A must for all.

Scott is very knowledgeable about the history and sights of this city. We also enjoyed his personal tales. You can tell he loves Portland!

We searched via our cell for Portland walking tours and booked, paid and secured our spot for a tour online for a reasonable cost of $20/individual for the following morning via Big Red Arrow which was a relatively easy process. Our weekday tour conveniently began at a location that was less than 10 minutes from our hotel at the Pioneer... More

As much as I enjjoy getting excellent reviews I need to let anyone reading this know that this particular review is not for my tour. As opposed to being one of dozens of guides at the company mentioned, I am the only employee of Discover My Portland and if you book with me, you will get me. Make it a... More

The best way to learn about Portland is from a native and especially a native who loves this great city! We took Scott's tour this morning, five of us in the group and two Portland natives. I am one of those natives and, boy, did a learn some new things about my home city! I have taken many walking tours,... More

My wife and I stayed in downtown Portland in April 2016. We were a few days into our trip and had explored a lot of Porland by foot, transit etc by the time our tour with Scott occurred. So I thought it might just be an interesting but repetitive tour of the area we had already 'discovered'. Boy was I... More

Nice walking tour. You get a lot of information and see many things that you may not have seen if you just walk around.

What I like about walking tours is learning about the buildings, art work, statues and parks that residents and tourists just walk by daily and have no idea their story. This tour did not disappoint. So many little things that get overlooked everyday were brought to life -- all intertwined to tell the story of Portland today, its residents, and... More

My husband and I just returned from our "DiscovermyPortland" tour with Scott. It was a wonderful 2 hour walk around downtown Portland. Scott is a native Portlander and loves his city. This is obvious in the excitement he displays as he tells the history of his town. He has a wonderful way of incorporating historical facts and tales that make... More
