Lovely old theater restyled to be a restaurant and pub with a theater. Very reasonable, large beer, cider and non alcoholic drink menu also reasonably priced. Popcorn, candy and pizza. Saw movies that had left the mainstream theaters. In off hours parking in the lot for the clinic two street over. Very reasonable for seat tickets.

A well know historic theater in North East Portland. On National Register of Historic Places. Outstanding exterior and baroque marquee, with excellent modern theater showing innovative spectrum of content from 70mm film to "Hecklevision". Lots of places to eat in neighborhood. Parking can be difficult at times. Trimet buses 12 or 75, or take Max to Hollywood transit center (with... More

From the first time I visited this theater I could tell it was special. It's owned by a non-profit organization that gives back to the community and offers great showings and events. My two favorites are the NW Animation Festival and the Sam Rosenthal (from Projekt Records) hosted Movies in the Dark showing second runs of classic dark/gothic cinema. Some... More

The Hollywood Theatre is an iconic Portland landmark dating back to the prohibition era. the current marquee has been restored to look like the original 1926 marquee. It is Spanish Colonial Revival in style. With a terracotta facade. The theatre has three areas that can screen films. There is the 384-seat main auditorium on the ground level. Upstairs where the... Had a great dinner at Columbia River Brew Pub across the street (40th) and then saw Tarentino's latest western flick at this theatre. It has a lovely art deco interior and they server good popcorn and beer. They have large vintage restrooms as well. We had a student discount for my daughter and the senior discount level starts at 65.

There are a bunch of independent theaters in Portland, but the Hollywood is definitely my favorite. They serve alcohol, pizza, and have a great staff. They host all sorts of events and conventions. They have one of the few working 70mm projectors in the US, and they don't hesitate to use it. I mean, they're a non-profit for goodness sakes!... More

I wish I had something like this back home and I was happy to support a theater that plays such excellent and weird stuff. I'll be back next time I'm here.

Unique, very friendly staff. Interesting architecture makes it a fun place to see a flick. Popcorn was very good, very Portland-esque crowd.

We went to the Hollywood to see "David Bowie Is" several months ago. It was the only theater in the Pacific Northwest to host this one-of-a-kind and limited film. That in itself will tell you something. The theater is fascinating, and we were blown away by the intricate beauty both inside and out. Whether it was the Bowie crowd or... More

Just saw 2001: A Space Odyssey in 70mm,and I must say, this is a fabulous theater. Tickets were cheap, concessions were cheaper, and the seats were really comfortable! They serve pizza and beer as well. According to their brochure, they are one of only 4 theaters in the US with 70mm projection capabilities! That's awesome! Go. It's great.
