This is a cool old part of Portland. The problem is that the cool old part of Portland has always been home to a seedier element, and it still holds true today. I would not let my kiddos run free here - too many needles and trash around. It's fine during the weekend markets and this is probably the only... More

Very interesting fountain in Portland . If not careful you would ride right by this unique site in Portland. The uniqueness of this site makes it one of those off beat spots to take in.

We had a very difficult time finding this and almost gave up. My GPS did not take me to the right place. We talked to a couple of people and a police officer on the street. Then my son used his Maps on his phone and we were able to get there with a combination of the phone and the... More

The fountain was much more interesting to look at and study after our guide shared the history. It was also interesting to learn that every metropolitan block contained public art. We started seeing art everywhere after learning this fact. I discovered the PDX public art app after leaving Portland and wish I had had it during the visit.

A beautiful scene for portland's saturday market. The grand old fountain, square and surroundings have changed little from their beginnings and the space is a wonderful place to visit for the saturday market.

We could barely see this fountain on a recent Saturday during the Portland Farmer’s and Skidmore Markets. It was so crowded with market goers and filled with vendor tents that we didn’t realize where we were or looking at. The market was fun, but if you are actually interested in just seeing and taking pictures of the Skidmore Fountain then... More

We visited Portland to be in a video shoot near the Riverfront Park Skidmore Fountain. It was a pleasant place with lots of people jogging, walking their dogs, just strolling. We saw some children running through the water, having lots of fun.

The area needs a little TLC, and cleaning up. Somewhat of a hub area for the Homeless. Best as a daytime visit. But only about a block from Voodoo Donuts

This is not a spectacular fountain. It is historically significant for this area, however. It's also a gathering place on weekends for the Portland Saturday Market crowd, aging hippies and the ever-present homeless. On weekends (a Sunday in our case) there was a street performer. But, I have to admit I was constantly vigilant of people brushing up against me,... More
