MAX - Convenient and Efficient

I highly recommend the use of public transportation in Portland, Oregon. It is inexpensive, convenient and efficient. Everything was with in walking distance.

We rode this several times while in Portland. It's cheap, but is very hard to figure out which line and where to get off, sometimes.

Great way to get around Portland. I would definitely suggest getting the app so you can just pay online and go. The website also has a great trip planner feature which maps out exactly how to get where you're going using the entire transit system (bus, rail, streetcar). Also, your ticket is good for all of the modes of transit... More

The tram goes from the airport to downtown and beyond. It's inexpensive and trains leave frequently. It's very Portland, with the usual mix of characters. It gets crowded, so you might consider an alternative if you have a lot of baggage.

When in Portland, I ride this all the time. You can get from the airport to downtown or elsewhere, or back to the airport, for $2.50. What a deal. And the ride is safe, fun and enjoyable. You buy the passes in the kiosks they have everywhere--you can buy day passes or longer, or you can just buy a $2.50... More

I love letting someone else do the driving. Most of the time my rides are on time and uneventful. However, PDX, being as colorful as it is from time to time you will bump into some "characters".

This is the way to see Portland: the rail will get you to many tourist sights, too. We did not need to rent a car to get wherever we wanted to go, as this system runs from the airport clear through town and to 'burbs. Buy an all-day or all-week ticket and enjoy jumping off and getting on again: They... More

Took a taxi from the airport to my hotel for $45. Took the Metro to the airport for $2.50 and only took 10 minutes more. Clean and efficient and easy to use.

We rode the Max to and from the airport as well as around town. In addition, we took the streetcar and buses. They run mostly on time. Buses run on the main roads east and west I think. Stay near a bus line and you don't need a car to get around Portland. Get the app where you buy your... More
