Whenever I'm in Portland, I make it a point to visit Kells, a landmark establishment downtown. I love the atmosphere and decor of the place. The food is consistent and good Irish fare. They have great beers and make a good Black & Tan (or...More

Recommended by the locals. Good not great. Nothing exceptional, but comfortable local place. Excellent service (Zach) and fast kitchen. Lamb stew was very tasty but not a lot of meat. Burger was cooked to order. Happy hours is 4-6:30(?) and several items are discounted food...More

They brew the beer on site and it is all good as is the service. Food is above average for a pub as is the service. Limited seating outside plenty of seats inside or at the bar.

I was disappointed in the quality of my corned beef sandwich (Rueben). I found the meat rather dry and the bread flavorless. Very disappointed!

Neat, cozy place to hang out/grab a bite to eat. Our son had the reuben and said it was one of the best he has ever had. My husband and I had the shepherd's pie. I'm not much for shepherd's pie but their description just...More

Went there with a couple of colleagues for lunch, had their roast beef sandwich and it was excellent. The meat was juicy, not overcooked, and served in sizable quantities. Atmosphere was nice and definitely had a pub feel on the street level floor.

I've been to Kell's many times and the service and food is always good and consistent. Went there to watch some college football and enjoyed a half and half Brew chasing some Bushmill. Had a salad and the small plate of Corned Beef and Cabbage....More

Slow, uninspired service. Server was pleasant enough, but didn't seem motivated to promptly deal with new customers. Another woman came by and perfunctorily took our plates without comment or any sign of congeniality. This was our first & perhaps only visit. Bartender was good.

I thought just an average brewpub that served Irish style food. Food nothing great, Irish stew more like soup, too watery for a stew and did not standout. Fish and chips much better with good size portion.Beer selection ok, again nothing stood out. Service good,...More

I've been to far better Irish pubs around the world. Ok it serves Guinness but the food wasn't great and the Kells Beer was pretty bad, especially the red ale. Felt to me like an American bar trying to replicate something it didn't know about.
