Take the time to make this drive through the Bedford, PA, area. There are lots of interesting buildings and sites and the road in good shape and wasn't crowded. This is a good activity on a cold, winter day. Lots of beautiful views of the countryside.

Nothing better than driving from Pgh through Ligonier on the way to Bedford! Great summits, interesting road-side and historic sites. Two lane highway - only bad feature is if you're behind a truck in the no-passing area.

I've been on a number of sections of the Lincoln Highway - this is a particularly nice section to drive. Great scenery, some nice landmarks such as the old Gas Station, the Coffee Pot, the Radio Museum...and the town of Bedford. As it parallels the Turnpike, it is worth exiting to drive this section & see some countryside!

On planning our Pennsylvania vacation we were unaware of the history we would find on Lincoln Highway--in fact, we weren't even aware of the highway until we got there. It is like traveling back in time. Riding the highway through Gettysburg was fantastic and then spending time experiencing the history of Gettysburg itself was beyond anything we had expected. VERY... More

I would recommend that everyone get off the Pa.turnpike for a while and enjoy the road that changed America forever. It marked the birth of vacationing by automobile and was the key east-west route connecting Philadelphia to the west.Just on the short drive from Breezewood to west of Bedford you see Inns, restaurants and log cabins built in the 1700's, unique... This is one of my favorite cemeteries to visit. The neat thing bout is the old part of 30 goes through the middle of it separating the old from the new. It's a must see especially the church

We took Route 30 West as we left Bedford, and enjoyed the scenery, but had no idea we were going to come to the Shanksville Memorial. It is a very well done tribute to the heroes of Flight 93, but it is absolutely terrifying and heartbreaking to hear some of the passengers' messages to their loved ones, as they realized... More

It was a nice drive with some interesting things on it. Wished that some of the 'attractions' were better marked. Some of the things we didn't even realize we passed.

I drove the Linclon highway from Greensburg PA to Gettysburg PA instead of driving the PA turnpike and glad that I did. I enjoyed the sights and stops along the way on rt 30 it was not a quick drive to Gettysburg but it was fun stopping at the different historical sights along the way.

We live not far from Rte.30/Lincoln Highway, but farther east so I was anxious to see some of the features of the road in Bedford. They were wonderful, especially 'The Coffee Pot" and the art-deco service station. Be sure to stop at the Visitor Center for a brochure which details the Lincoln Highway as well as the covered bridges in... More
