Cherry Springs State Park is a wonderful little place to visit and view celestial bodies in all of their glory! This was my third time there to photograph the Milky Way, which was simply stunning last night. I have camped there with my granddaughter/adventure partner...More

Helpful hints: Schedule during a new moon so you can see the Milky Way. Autumn is a great time because there is less chance of haze. Loved it! It was horizon to horizon filled with stars. Super helpful park rangers gave a great program. Every...More

Went with the family last night on an impromptu visit. The night was cool and clear and the only downside to the stars was a bright half moon. The guides there were informative and patient and my young daughter was wowed by the telescopes they...More

This is a must see for anyone who remotely likes looking at the night sky. Campground is affordable and clean. I've been going here for about five years now.

The PA website on this park isn't overly full of information. There is a "rustic" toilet facility at the campground. This means there are two composting toilets in two stalls with toilet paper. No running water to wash your hands, no electricity, or mirror. There's...More

The park itself is clean and well kept. We couldn't believe how good the vault toilet house smelled. Park rangers were courteous and informational with where to buy firewood, etc. There are two different places to camp. The astronomers field (no fires allowed) or the...More

It's an open field, so possibly not. Best bet for that would be Lyman Run State Park in Galeton, PA
