Teddy Roosevelt declared that this Italian Renaissance-style building was “the handsomest building I ever saw”. Indeed, the State Capitol, with its vaulted dome and grand staircase and the murals and painted floors inside, is thing to behold.

Attended a politically-motivated rally here a few weeks ago. Big, stately building with plenty of space in front for same. Didn't actually enter the building, as legislators were on vacation.

I can’t speak for just going around on your own and visiting, because I got a guided tour. However, I was completely engrossed with the history and architecture. The murals are spellbinding. Try to get a guided tour like I had.

Truly a landmark and must see for the beauty inside and out that makes this building a great architectural marvel and an impressive place for the state's legislation to take place. Make sure to stand in the rotunda and look up.Truly impressive!

The two chambers and the Supreme Court under one roof. Very nice architecture and a lot of history. The tour is free, but make sure to go when they are not in session.
