Teddy Roosevelt declared that this Italian Renaissance-style building was “the handsomest building I ever saw”. Indeed, the State Capitol, with its vaulted dome and grand staircase and the murals and painted floors inside, is thing to behold.

The Pennsylvania State Capital Building is a historic site in Harrisburg. Went there for a rally but have toured before. The front steps are crushers so if you're non-handicapped rated beware. Try to keep any downtown visit to less than four hours since parking under four is $15., over four is $30. Spacious grounds and beautiful architecture.

This tour wasn't on our trip itinerary but our ten year old grandson wanted to see it so we booked a Saturday morning tour. How does a ten year old from California know of such places? We were all awed from the moment we walked into the lobby. Have not seen anything like this building except for the Library of... More

On a recent visit to Harrisburg my wife and I went on a tour of the Capitol building. We were fortunate to arrive in time for the last tour of the day. The tour guide had worked at the Capitol and practically grown up there as a child. Her mother had worked in one of the offices there for many... More

There are guided tours on weekend, but not a big deal, just few minutes but the building is impressive.

It is a fantastic sight, one that you never see anywhere else on the planet because there is no where else like it. All of the marble, tiled floors, pictures and shear beauty of it all

The tour guide gave lots of fun facts about the state, today's political process & the building. It was so sparkly and impressive to see the massive craftsmanship it took to build that in only a few years yet such a long time ago; not sure how they did that. The gold, mahogany & marble set it off from other... More

We stayed in Harrisburg 1 night in April 2017 during a tour that led us through 9 Eastern + New England states. We liked Harrisburg a lot, although it was very quiet and a lot of places were closed as it was Easter Sunday. Hence, it was only allowed to visit the Rotunda-area. Security staff was extremely unfriendly, probably because... More

Make sure you go to the Capitol and you go on the tour. It lasts 45 minutes and it is free. You get to see the most beautiful and influential places where Penn law actually happens... Stunning history and stunning views. Highly recommended.
